Sunderland students are celebrating their outstanding achievements following a successful evening at the Sunderland Young Achievers Awards.

St. Anthony’s Girls Catholic Academy, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, saw two St Anthony’s students named as winners in their respective categories. Their hard work, dedication and passion impressed the judging panel and secured them top honours among a highly competitive field.

Millie, Year 11, who won the Sport and Physical Activity Award for her achievements as a golfer, said: I am extremely proud, all the hard work I have put in has paid off. I am looking forward to continuing to work towards my ambition to become a professional golfer, and along the way, to go to university in America to study Business and Golf.”

Monica, Year 8, who won the Arts and Culture Award for her achievements in ballet, said: “The atmosphere was amazing, and seeing all those young people achieving and smiling was even better. I am thankful for this award and this opportunity.”

The annual event is held to recognise the remarkable talents, resilience, and contributions of young people across the city. In addition to the two category winners, Emili, Year 8 was highly commended in the ‘Young Environmental Champion’ category for her exceptional commitment and contribution to her school’s Eco Committee.

Adding to the celebrations, one of the academy’s talented performers, Isabella, Year 7, took to the stage on the night, delivering a captivating performance that entertained guests and highlighted the school’s vibrant performing arts community.

Marie Lanaghan, Headteacher, said: We are incredibly proud of all our students who were recognised at the Sunderland Young Achievers Awards. Their achievements reflect their personal talents and dedication. It was wonderful to see their hard work celebrated on such a prestigious platform.

The school extends its sincere congratulations to all nominees and winners and looks forward to supporting more students in continuing to achieve excellence both within and beyond the Academy.
